Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've received an acknowledgement of my letter to the Abbey today. It's just the standard letter saying they'll write to me again within the next four weeks with an outcome to my complaint. So now I play the waiting game. I'll keep you posted.
Have just been reading more about this from other users on this site. Do I have to wait up to four weeks for Abbey to respond or can I progress this further in the meantime?
Well, if you know what tyou are going to be reclaiming and you have evidence to support it, then the next stage is the letter before action as set out in the Library.
Abbey may have chosen to deal with your original letter as a complaint. That is up to them but they do not set the agenda or the pace in this matter. You do.
Quite a lot of people do have to wait for the four weeks because they have submitted DPA enquiries. If you have had no need to make such an enquiry then you should just press ahead.
