Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
October 2008 my husband and I filed for working tax credits and child tax credits. After several months and phone calls we decided to go to CAB to get help. After a few phone calls from CAB to HM revenue and customs (on our behalf) we were sent a request for more information and a request for a copy of our daughters birth certificate and passport. Eventually in December of 2009 we received an award letter that stated the amount of WTC we were to receive, and that we weren't eligible for Child tax credit. We again phoned and we were told that they had no record of that award letter. We had been awarded Child tax credit, but it was in a different department being calculated and that we would be receiving several checks for the backdated WTC. We also requested a new award letter. More phone calls and trips to CAB we received the back owed amount of WTC in February 2010. Still no award letter, and it was requested 3 times on the phone and 2 times in writing. They are still claiming that we are to receive Child Tax Credits, but they are still being calculated, they also claim they have sent out a new award letter, but were unsure of the date it was sent. We have filed a complaint, but I am afraid it will just slow it down even more. Is there any other way to solve problems with them? We are owed around 7,000 and could really use the income. After 2 weeks we haven't even heard back from the complaint.
