Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have had an ongoing dispute with british gas for some time now. Basically myself and my partner moved into a property and our landlord gave british gas false information instead of giving them my full name on my contract they gave them a nickname only my friends and family call me by. with that when we moved out and moved somwhere else they gave us a bill in that nickname so there for surely it would be void as i dont go by that name at all when i apply for any credit when i called them about it they changed it to my correct name but now im getting punished for it and now they have passed it to a debt collector which im not happy about as not with that it will default my correct name and ive never had a probelm with credit at all and now i will...so my query is do i still pay for a bill that is in a false name and not my correct name?
Thanks
If it is your utility debt what's the problem, all that has happened is the landlord has named the tenant by the name he knew you by. Did your neighbours know your 'nickname'? If so that's where he probably got it from.
