Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
This is probably a really stupid question!! I was reading the threads regarding how long defaults stay on your credit file, which I know is 6 years.
However, in the explanation link '6 Years' it explains that the 6 years starts from the last contact or payment on the account (unless I have misunderstood!).
My default was registered in Oct 2006, however I have been making regular payments since then each month per an agreement.
Does this mean that by making payments I am lengthening the time my 6 years commences? I thought the 6 years started from the date of the default? I am obviously still concerned that the default will be removed after the 6 years are up...
NO after 6 years from the date of default on your credit file it will drop off, however if you continue to make payments the debt will not become SB, as this is from the last payment or last time the debt was acknowledged in writing.
