Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
hi i am a student and i opened up two student accounts one with Halifax and one with Natwest, i got a £500 overdraft with halifax and spent most of it but never paid anything into the account about two weeks ago they sent me a letter to my home address saying i had seven days to pay something into the account but i didn't get the letter until about 10 days later, then today my mum received a call from mdr saying i needed to call them back so i googled the number and found out who they are, and now im really worried and dont know what to do, if i paid some money into the account would they drop the case? is there a chance they will send bailiffs to my parents house? somebody please help!
Moorcroft are part of Halifax, so they are inhouse debt collectors. There is no case at present, so stop worrying.
In order for Baliffs to call at your house, halifax would need to obtain a county court judgement and go from there to obtain a warrant, so again don't panic.
The terms of the account may say that you must use the account, pay in as well as withdraw, so if you have not been paying in, then that may be the reason, or the OD may have gone over the limit.
First off, speak to your Bank to find out what the problem is, then post here again.
