Default Agent not paid back deposit!

I moved out 4 weeks ago, met the agent at the property to hand over keys following an inspection of the property they said no problems and depost would be paid back.

Still waiting! they state that the previous agent has only just transferred it to them?

I had a letter from the previous agent in February before I moved out that it had been transferred.

4 weeks seems an unacceptable wait when I have abided by the terms of the tenancy agreement and left the property in probably a better condition than when I moved in.

PS was homeless for 3 weeks, now have new accommodation but can not move in because I need the bond money back.

Is there anything I can do?

Was the deposit secured in a Tenancy Deposit Scheme, and if so do you know which company it was with? You can inform them that the tenancy has ended, and also contact the LA informing them that the deposit should have been refunded within 14 days of the end of tenancy, provide them with a further 7 days or you will consider further legal action (Which will be in the way of sending a letter before actionicon then if they still fail to provide it back a small claims case)

I am happy to offer helpful advise in many consumer problems based on my retail experience. I do not represent any company, and any advise I do offer is my opinion and how I understand the law. I have no authority to create any terms for any company I do work for and will just nudge you in the right direction without breeching their trust.

4 weeks is right on the limit of reasonable - I would now write to them giving them 7 days to return.

I was on the understanding that most schemes go with 14 days return on deposits
