Hi all,
I have been on benefits on and off for a number of years. I have found it very difficult to manage my bank account with LloydsTSB which has incurred charges. These charges have often been taken out of my benefit money.
I was told on this site that under the SocialAdmin Security Act 1998 they are not allowed to do this.
I went to the bank and told them this and they agreed and refunded 2 recent charges.
I took this as the green light to ask for my previous charges back..
I wrote a letter to the bank asking for past charges back as it was taken out of benefit money (Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit & Job Seekers Allowance).
The bank just replied saying that they do not have to refund the money if the charge is older than 48 hours and in any case it only applies to child benefits.
Can anyone shed any light on the truth?
thank you
