Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I'm 'Mrsfedup' I'm posting because I hoped someone would be able to give me some advice.I ran in to difficulties with my bank and because I have been unable to make the minimum payment on my credit card (with the same company) they have started taking funds out of my current account. This has been going on for a while. I have written to the bank and explained my current circumstances but it falls on deaf ears. Surely they're not allowed to take money out of my account if I've made a token payment? In addition I have been a customer for a very long time, and I've also had my credit account for a long while.
Advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
Mrs Fedup
You are going to need to chang your current account to a different bank ASAP. The banks do have a right to 'set-off' funds from one account to another although they shouldn't force you into hardship.
