Hi- As i understand if a DD is taken to early from an account then an immediate refund can be obtained from your bank. My question though is -Does this mean you still have to pay at a later date or does the company who took it on the wrong date have to cover the full cost of the DD?
Start date of DD is shown as 15th of month but contract does not say payment will be taken on that date.
Contract says payment will be taken on the first of every month.
What does this mean and does DD Guarantee cover this?
You need to look at the DD agreement itself. For the last 6 years or so, the maximum has been 'unspecified amounts on unspecified dates' - this gives the payee the right to take what they want, when they want.
If this is the arrangement you agreed to - then the answer is no - the guarantee will not cover this because there has been no breach. If the supplier says they'll tale the money on the 10th, then take it on the 1st, your bank MAY agree to recall the debit, but you need to sort out this problem with the supplier for breaking their agreement with you.
Of course, if you don;t give them a DD - you remain in control and only pay them want you want, when you want.
