Please tell me how to get a bank account after bankrupt
hello all,
I am having a very terrible time trying to open an ordinary current account.
I don't want any thing special, just some where to have my wages paid in.
I was adjudged bankrupt on 22 Feb. 2006.
I was able to keep my only current account with Abbey, and have a visa card.
but as I work abroad a lot, I find some times my abbey card isn't always working.
I have been to a few banks to try open another account, even if they just give a cash card is fine.
I will never need an overdraft.
Can some one please tell me which bank I should go to, and which account I should ask them for?

Try the Halifax, you can get an online account with them and specify which countries you want your card to be valid in... online bank statements and usual stuff too. No overdraft facilities. AFIK its one of the few still accepting new entrants.
Natwest seem to have stopped its Step account now.

When I was declared bankrupt back in 2006 the only 2 banks who would offer me banking facilites were Nationwide, very basic account you are not issued with a debit card. just a cash card for the machines which does work abroad.
The 2nd bank was the Co-Operative, again a basic account but issue you with a Visa debit card.
