I am looking for some advice on where I stand with online finance. I bought a peugeot 106 from carland in April 2003 and it was financed by online car finance. I cleared the finance in September and sold it on as was in need of a bigger car. The problems is that over the past ten months are so I have been receiving letters from online finance saying that I owe them money. I phoned the company and the woman on the phone was rude and said that I had commited fraud and she was going to start procedures against me for doing so and keep saying you are going to prison. I spoke to my friend who owes a tax sales company who sold the car for me and he provided me with a copy of his bank statement and the slip from him cheque book and a copy of the original letter for the settlement figure on the vehicle. I have now been getting regularly letters from different balieff agents asking for the money except with each letter the ammount changes and I know that I have already paid the car in full. I now also have a black mark against my name for this. Does anyone know if there is anything I go do to clear this up?
Once you have paid the final settlement figure or agreed a date to return the vehicle they cannot add anymore charges. Online finance tried this with me after I agreed to return the car to them half way through the contract. They tried to make me pay £140 for every service for the car because carcraft didn't provide a service book. That would have led me to pay over £1000 extra.
Thank you for your reply. Is there anyone I can complain to about this because at present I am still receiving these letters and also I have a bad credit score becuase of this. I have heard some terrible stories about online finiance lately and would just like to resolve this.
How have you got on with this? I'm looking to terminate my agreement with Online Finance and am disputing the charges. I'm concerned that they may come after me for more afterwards by the sounds of this.
