Hello CAG
This is my first posting and frankly I think I need help ASAP. I wrote to my Bank asking them to review my Bank charges from December to May. At that time I had been charged almost £900 in charges. I am on benefits and that the payments to which they clearly knew were from the DSS were just being eaten up every time they were being put in by the DSS, several times I had to borrow money to pay the bank to clear my overdraft and get my account back in order but could no longer do this. I was informed by the DSS to stop getting my payments made into the bank and sort it out with them independantly. I received a letter from the Bank stating that the charges at that time were in accordance to their rules and that they were treating my useage of my account as first person fraud and that they were taking me to court and putting me on the defaulters register. I now owe them almost £2000 as to which £1400 is in Bank charges. I was advised by a Bank Teller to seek advice from the Citizens Advice as to what to do, should I do this?
what you need to do is get your statments from the past 6 years and make a note of all the charges, then calculate your interest at 8% and add it on. then write to your bank with all the information giving them 14 days to cough up or else you will file a claim.
Check out the FAQ's on this site and go for it. The money is legally your and you have a right to get it back.
Best of luck
