    Default Landlords and keys

    Today my landlord contacted my wife and asked her if she can send over a photographer to take photos of the place we are renting, so my wife said its okay. Later the photographer called my wife and said he will be coming over in 2 days, my wife said we are not at home during the day, so she was told not to worry, they have keys. Its not the first time the the landlord gave keys to someone to come into our house. Is this allowed, can i do something about it?

    No not allowed.

    It it effectively yours whilst you live there.

    Tell the photographer he can come around when convenient to you. I would not allow someone to wander around your home without you being in.

    Just speak to the landlord, if he is reasonable he should understand.

    If he says he is going to let people in, then as a last resort change the locks, but ensure you give the keys to the landlord when you leave the property.

    Take control, do not be pushed around.

    If I was a beeting man I would say that the need for photographs is a result of your LLs intention to relet/sell the property.

    Are you happy for photos of your possesions to be plastered on the internet/estate agents window?
