Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Basically I am with Lloyd's and I have recently had lost my card/it has been stolen and used to set up a direct debit of £455 to come out each month and I have no money in the bank, thus I am going to be getting charges every month of money I cant afford to pay.
My guess is someone found the card, used it to purchase something in instalments online and i am now the payer of something they will receive.
What shall I do about this, I dont know anything about law or banking and I would just like to know some advice and my rights before going in to report it stolen. Like what can the worst case scenario be and what can the best case scenario be?
Call your bank immediately to report your card stolen and the fraudulent direct debit. They will investigate but so long as they do not suspect fraud on your part they will refund any monies stolen from you within about 7 days.
