Hi, firstly I apologise if I’ve posted this in the wrong section, I’m new here and didn’t know if issues relating to Barclays Partner Finance are supposed to be in the Barclays Bank section or not.
Now, I'm currently doing a course through the home learning college who use Barclays partner finance to collect the money for them, I normally pay £54.75, however, on October 1st I phoned and used their automated payment system to pay the £54.75, I went through it all and at the end of it, the system said my transaction could not be processed and to try again, so on the morning of the 2nd I rang, tried again and was greeted with the same message, I phoned back again within their opening times, and was greeted with a message saying the offices were closed and to phone back within the opening hours (which of course I had), so there was nothing I could do, later that day I got a call from Barclays Partner finances collections department demanding payment, I paid it and explained the situation, so they agreed I wouldn’t be charged late payment fees, however I checked my bank later that day and the payment had been taken three times, so they'd taken an additional £109.50, I phoned and demanded this back, and explained that I had direct debits coming out of my bank and if my money wasn’t in I’d incur charges with the bank, they agreed to refund it immediately. This was on Saturday 3rd October, on the 6th October I received a cheque in the post for £109.50, I rang Barclays Partner Finance again and said they'd have to do a bank transfer to prevent me incurring charges, they said just cash the cheque and they'd reimburse any charges I incur as a result, so I did, I sent them details of the charges which total £77.00, and they haven't refunded my money, I paid the monthly £54.75 in November, December, and January, having still not received my money back I rang Barclays Partner Finance to chase it up, and on January 3rd they said they'd get someone to ring back the next day, no one did, so I tried again a week later, and again got told someone would ring back, no one did. Without my £77.00 I now have no money to pay Februarys instalment, but Barclays Partner Finance are now phoning me around 7 times a day demanding payment from me, I’ve explained the situation several times but have been told in a threatening manor that if I do not make payment I will be charged up to £90, having explained I have no money with them having my £77.00 one of the people from Barclays Partner Finance collections department asked if I was in employment and when I’d get paid to make payment. However I still have no refund and no money to pay this. I asked Barclays Partner Finance for the number of the OFT to make a formal complaint against him and the company, he gave me a number, and when I rang it, it was Barclays Partner Finance!
They are harassing me with these calls, and seem uninterested in my case, what can I do?
You need to stop ringing them. Send a letter recordered delivery. State the problem and that it was their mistake and the person you spoke to agreed to refund any charges you incur (they can check the recording themselves.
Now I would then tell them that they can take this months payment out of the £77 they owe you and they can send a cheque for the outstanding balance.
