Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Recently I have been spending a lot of time going through all my credit reports - and I have to say - defo everyone, make sure you get all 3 files as I have found different info on some and some of the info they hold is rubbish and has/is taking me ages to clear up. But I am getting there and winning the battle
For me I need to have my file clean due to work and also need to move house - so want to make sure the files are sorted B4 I apply to banks and see IFA.
Lots of info on my files has been wrong, I have been associated to people I have never met, addresses I have never lived at etc - but I have managed to get most of it cleared up and taken off all the files.
One thing that as shown only on 1 of the files is this silly amount for £328 from Arrow Global Ltd - now this looks to have been defaulted in my name back in 2005. I have contacted Arrow (lost count of the times I have contacted them) written recorded deliver, special delivery and have even written to OFT regarding this wierd thing on my account. For the life of me I have NO idea what it is - when I did manage to get to talk to a person on the phone all they would tell me was it was an orange phone bill - I am 100% this is not mine, i have always had a contract phone and have always paid and to this day still have a contract phone and never with Orange - so it is driving me mad.
I have written and requested all files they have on me (recorded delivery) they say they did not get the letter even though royal mail said they have delivered and will not talk to me over the phone, most of the time they hang up on me! I have written to all the CRA and informed them of this - they then write to me saying the client has to remove the default.
All I have had to date from this Arrow is an offer of if I pay them aroud £100 they will close the account - but why on earth would I pay for this when it is BS? also fi a settle this will show on my credit report as settled and not come off the file - which I dont want as it looks bad for my credit file.
The problem I now face is time is not on my side as I need to apply to a bank at the end of this month - so would need this off ASAP so its off for the search at the end of the month.
The file is old and I am based in Scotland so I know SB is 5 years here not 6 - so wondering if I can get it off that end. I have written to the CRA stating this to see what they come back with - doubt it, but thought it was worth sending anyway.
Any ideas of how I get this off fast, make sure it is off and defo stays off??????? HELP!
Having defaults removed is a very tedious and tiring job. The only way that defaults will completely removed is if the companies that have put the default on tell them to remove it. More often than not, even if you settle an account, the default will still remain. One thing you can do in the interim (I have done this myself with Experian) is have them put a Notice Of Correction on the default(s). You can contact them online and tell them that you do not agree with or acknowledge the debt(s). They will then attach the NOC to all the defaults. Most companies that want to access your report will see this and usually dismiss it.
I know it's not the perfect solution, but it should help you in the meantime.

Every credit agreement you have with Banks, Loan companies, Credit Cards etc that are up to date in payments will have a green (0). If you are between 1 and 3 months behind, that changes to a 1,2 or 3 and also changes colour to yellow I think. This denotes that you are 1,2 or 3 months behind on the payments on that account. This process carries on until you reach the magic number (eight) which will be red and will mean that you have defaulted on that particular agreement.
