Hi,
I heard that you can claim back charges that were applied to your mortgage account if you have fallen into arrears. Is this correct? Also, can you do the same for secured loans and would you be able to claim back returned direct debit fees and telephone call/letter charges on these secured accounts also?
Thanks
Compound interest calculatorAbout three days before reading this in the paper, I had acutally sent a letter to my previous mortgage company requesting all the charges they put on the account, still paying the shortfall after they respossessed us.
I used the bank charges letter and adjusted it to read default fees including but not limited to direct debit fees, monthly management arrear fees etc. The mortgage company London Mortgages wrote back to say they would cancel the mortgage arrear fees for the furture if I continue to make my monthly payments. Not budging on previous ones quoting terms and conditions.
Have now complained to fos and waiting to hear the outcome. I also charged interest at their contractual rate of 13% to each charge from the date applied to current day. Also charged 8% statutory interest on top. quite a nice earner. For interest, used the following interest calculator

Thanks. Okay, I have got together all my mortgage/secured loan charges (returned direct debit fees/telephone call fees/arrears letter fees and default notice fees) Would anyone have a template letter that I could use to request these charges be refunded?
Thanks
You can use the bank template letters and just amend it accordingly as you will be claiming under the same laws as the old bank claims were made as the supreme court judgement doesnt have a bearing on any charges under these laws outside of bank charges
