Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have a problem with the above regarding car finance.
June 2009 myself and partner purchased a car for £7390, we part exchanged our other car for £3000, which left a balance of £4390.
This was purchased through a Bill of Sale.
Unfortunately we are in arrears of around £350.
Baliffs from the garage have been banging down the door for a couple of days, i have been afraid to open the door. The banging has gone on for over three quaters of an hour and thye also shout through my letter box!
I have made several calls to them to speak with the Garage owner, Graham.
He was unavailable, eventually contacting me yesterday.
I expalined our financial situation and asked for time to catch up with arrears.
Graham refused and said unless paid in full the car would be taken by his baliffs.
I said that beause we had payed almost half i thought a court would have to decide...Graham said that as the car was sold Bill of sale he was able to take possesion of the car anytime!!
I was mortified to think that not only would he have this car back but it would mean the car we part exchanged in the begining was pointless!
After reading a previous thread about Graham and his baliffs i believe that the Bill of Sale may be void as a his clerk signed as witness.
Please feel free to leave comment as any help/advice is greatly appreiated.

can you suggest anything that could help?
Well im sure we all have different experiences with companies.I have had cars with corner Park for 15 years and have had no problems. For ten months i offered to make a reduced payment and it was accepted and only last month i missed a month after contacting GRAHAM.Cars have been good and even my daughter has bought one recentky at sensible price and rate
I have to say i bought a car from corner park llantrisant, over 3 years ago on a 5 year finance. I also have had finacial difficult times within that period but have kept in touch with them and they have always helped me out by reduceing my payment without any ballif action even mentioned . oh and also the car has been reliable aswell.

"Keith" I think you forgot to mention what a fantastic price you got your car for, and how competitive the interest rate is.
And what a great company Corner Park Garage is to work for.
