Renewed credit cards, wrong name on statements/letters!
Hi all,
I have a credit card with Lloyds TSB and a bank account which goes back a good 15 years.
I moved house recently to stay with the in-laws and something strange seems to have happened.
Statements were turning up from Lloyds addressed to a name that has never lived at the address. They were sent back unopened with 'not known' on them.
One day my father in law called Lloyds (he recognised the return address) and asked why they were sending statements to this person as they didn't live here. They would not remove the details from their system so he opened the letter. Inside was a statement addressed to someone else, at my address with my credit card statement details. I have just had another one through this morning with my new credit card (with my name on) addrerssed to this other person at my address.
So to summarise:
Someone elses name
My address
My credit cards (with my name on the same letter with someone else's name)
My credit card details/statement
How can I be sure they have got all their information correct if they can't match my name and account on their system?
Can I now have the debt written off as they can not be trusted that the information, let alone the debt, is correct?
Any ideas on what I should do? Information commissioner? Police?
Sounds very strange to me.
I would go into the Bank with all the details/cards and explain it all to them in case there is possible Identity Fraud here
