Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I thought you all might like to know about a recent experience with my Cahhot card (supplied by Abbey).
I was due to fly from Manchester on business but couldn't get to the airport since the whole motorway system around the city had been brought to a standstill by an accident on the M6. As a result I missed my flight nd the next one would not get me to my destination in time to make my onward journey that day. I therefore needed to book a new flight and a hotel.
I rang cahoot and asked for a temporary increase in my credit limit to cover these two items. My credit score is OK but they refusd on the basis that Cahoot is no longer a supported product. It is supported when it comes to adding interest and asking for payments!
Eventually I managed to resolve the problem by other means. However, had I been abroad at the time, I could have been left completely stranded.
I need a credit card to give me some 'insurance' when travelling - that is why I have one. Cahoot (Abbey/Santander) obviously couldn't care less about my welfare. Needless to say I have cancelled the card and won't be taking any other services from Abbey or Santander (as it now is) since they obviously don't give a damn.
