Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
Was just reading different stories on the different banks catagories/forums on here and i seem to notice Abbey are the worst for making life difficult for people, being plain pig headed and making everything last right to the last minute. I am with Halifax personally and from what i see they seem to be the easiest to work with and tend to pay out the quickest with the least fuss (i think).
So like the title suggests, who would you say was the worst bank to claim back from?

In my experience - Smile.

Hie I Am New To This Site Iam Claiming Bank Charges Court Stages At This Stage Both Banks Not Willing To Pay Both Willing To Defend Charges In Court Abbey And Natwest Help Please
Re: Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
They can all be as bad as eachother. Halifax do tend to be the quickest to settle but it hasnt always been this way.
They still vigourously contest pre-court stage. Barclays and Rotal bank/Natwest do nothing in the early stages.
I would agree with Dave from what we have seen.....Smile yes....followed closely by Citi.......none of them come close to Citi for sheer stubborn factor.

Make your own post in one of the bank forums,(clearer then helping in here), what you have done so far. etc

I disagree that this thread is valueless.
Every opinion has value because we can all listen and make up our own mind and possibly learn from it.

Thank you very much for your pleasant comment Simeon. I find it sad that the other 2 posters, (before and after your post) found it necessary to ridicule my thread and even more saddening that the 2 people that did so are actually, long standing members, who i normally have alot of respect for on here, through their help and advice, that i have read. I don't know you guys but am wondering what i have done to deserve such treatment, just for the subject matter and age of my thread. It couldn't have been that "valueless" a matter if even the main man Dave posted on it, (along with quite a few others), I didn't see him being nasty about it. The thread is as dead as people choose to make it and by Simeon replying to it, surely he had resurrected it "from the dead". I didn't realise there was a time limit as to when people should respond to threads.
Please don't be so hasty to jump on people, there really is no need for it.
Re: Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
For what it's worth I agree that Smile are the easiest to claim from. I think the value of knowing this is that it could help people to decide which banks to choose for parachute accounts.
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
Should you be offered help that requires payment please report it to site team.

Thank you to Caro and Stornoway.
Another reason i thought it might be of use to know which banks are easiest to claim from, was for those about to embark on claiming their charges back, to give them some idea of what kind of a journey the whole process was likely to involve and how long.
Re: Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
I agree this thread is useful, it gives people some idea what to exepct. For example if you had three or four lots of charges to claim you could pick one which has a reputation for paying out rather easily, this would build confidence for the possibly tougher contest to come.
cap one, a little more difficult - not so easy to speak to. Thinking will have to go to court proceeding.
Hope this helps anyone thinking of tackling the above.

Halifax - £2281, successfully refunded all charges after LBA letter & telephone call.
Have been offered the difference between the £20 and £12 charges from Capital One -- am sending LBA for remainder.
GE Money - Received settlement of £441, being total charges requested. No interest though.
CCA'd Bank of Scotland / Blair Oliver Scott to produce CCA Agreements on two Credit Cards - well in default, although still chasing payment!!!
EOS Solutions "ceased action on account" on behalf of a friend.
All in all, quite busy at the moment and enjoying every minute of it
Re: Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
I offered to compile the letters for a work coleague but he decided to pop into the Halifax first to ask them how he should proceed in claiming his charges back.
He was shocked to find how helpful they were and said they would send him all five years copy statements within seven days. (Only had account five years).
More to his suprise when he received them the covering letter had calculated all the charges and gave him a total which was correct. It also requested he contact them if he agreed and they would credit his account straight away. He did and they did.
Obviously he missed out on interes he could have claimed but was more than happy with the way it was dealt with all in less than a week and not even wrote a letter.
PUTTING IT IN WRITING & KEEPING COPIES IS A MUST FOR SUCCESS
Re: Which bank do you think is the easiest to claim bank charges back from?
I know it might sound odd, and before anyone says anything, I don't go out of my way to get charges, but when I needed a credit card recently, I went for Capital 1, because I knew they were easiest to deal with.
The reason I had charges in the first place was when our comfortable situation changed overnight a few years ago, and I have always been very aware since then that we never know what's around the corner, so I prefer to think ahead, just in case...
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
