Hi, I hope this is the right place to get some advice!
I've recently been involved in an accident where a German, Left-hand drive lorry merged into the side of my car whilst i was in lane joining a duel carriageway. I reported the accident to my insurance company and the German lorry driver has admitted liability.
However, my insurance company has assessed my car and told me its a complete write off, a "class C, uneconomical repair." The damage is purely aesthetic, bumps and scratches down the near side door's and wings but they are saying it would cost more to repair than the car is worth. So now they want to write my car off for a lot less than it's worth! I've been given an estimate from an independent garage who say they can fix it for £450, which, ironically,
is almost the amount of money i would lose in accepting the undervalued write
off!!!
The best option seems to be to get the car fixed independently at my own expense and keep my car.
My question is this. If I drop my claim with the insurance company, will I have to pay any legal fees, e.g. to the solicitors handling my case or to the engineer that assessed my car?
The claim is in very early stages i.e. there has been no court involvement and I haven't even signed anything.
I would ask my insurance company but they don't operate on weekends unlike my garage.
Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated! Thanks very much in advance
Can you not reject their offer on the basis it does not reflect the value of the care ?
Also, you can buy the car back from them once they paid you out mate at fraction of the cost lol, repair it, (poss Vic check it) mot it and use it again loo
