Default Any advice on claiming credit card charges back???

    Hi everyone

Just joined today after reading your article on MSE. I would greatly appreciate any advice on getting charges refunded from my Nat West Platinum card. I had the card set up originally for the 0% balance transfer and had a direct debiticon set up for the minimum amount each month which was all I could really afford. I then managed to get a really good low interesticon loan and decided to pay off the balance. Knowing I was going to do this I cancelled my direct debit. I then paid off the full amount via a direct internet banking payment on 01st August. I just received my statement today stating that they did not receive my payment til the 03rd and because my payment was due on the 02nd they automatically charged me £12. They also then charged me £28 on the 08th for interest which they explained was due to the fact that even although my payment was only 1 day late (according to them) I was charged interest for the full month. I phoned them and kicked up a stink but they were adamant they would not be refunding anything - so I cancelled the card there and then. I know it's not a huge amount but it's better in my pocket.

I know this will sound really petty but whilst I'm on a roll - they have also charge me 1p interest on purchases even though I have never made a purchase on the card!!

Hope you can help - thanks in advance

    Hi
Start the process to claim them back - as you know the amount, start with the preliminary letter. I very, very much doubt it would get too far as it is for a relatively small amount but you never know!

I have no idea why they have charged you 1p - query it (as long as it is a freephone number otherwise it'll cost you more in the phonecall cost)

    Good luck

Please note that I am not a legal expert and all advice given is without prejudice and is purely my opinion only.

i have the same thing. I get charged 1p every month even though the account has a balance of £0! ... Maybe its because if i don't pay the penny they can charge me a 'missed payment' and 'late payment' fee?
