Hi all!
I'm looking for a bit of advice and some guidance.
I've had a debt with AbbeyNational in 2005 for £110 from an account being overdrawn. I settled it in branch, paying off all the debts ,reducing the balance to +£10, and canceled all the direct debits and payments. From 2007, I've been getting letters from Abbey's in-house debt collectors
for £200 and that they closed my account. I called them up late 2007 and refused to pay stating that I had already payed off the bank charges for my overdraw in 2005 and should of had nothing coming out of the account.
Thinking it would stop, I left it at that.
During 2008, I get a letter from Capquest demanding payment for the debt, which now spiraled to £250, because I had talked to abbey's debt collectors in 2007, I thought nothing of it and left it. However, Capquest started to send about 2-3 letters a month demanding payment, with their fake solicitors ones and pay now get 30% ones. I have not been in contact with them, but I still am getting the letters, although they've slowed down and came about once every 2/3 months.
It's now nearing the end of 2009 and I've just received a letter from Scotcall demanding payment in the next 7 days or they will pass it to their "field representatives to arrange a doorstep call".
I not sure where to start. My account with Abbey was closed and I don't have any details of my bank account, so I don't know how I would begin to get evidence of charges and things.
Can offer me any advice or give me an idea of what to do?
Any help would be much appreciated.
