    Default Abbey Bank Charges (2005-now)

    Hi all!

I'm looking for a bit of advice and some guidance.

I've had a debt with Abbeyicon National in 2005 for £110 from an account being overdrawn. I settled it in branch, paying off all the debts ,reducing the balance to +£10, and canceled all the direct debits and payments. From 2007, I've been getting letters from Abbey's in-house debt collectorsicon for £200 and that they closed my account. I called them up late 2007 and refused to pay stating that I had already payed off the bank charges for my overdraw in 2005 and should of had nothing coming out of the account.

Thinking it would stop, I left it at that.

During 2008, I get a letter from Capquest demanding payment for the debt, which now spiraled to £250, because I had talked to abbey's debt collectors in 2007, I thought nothing of it and left it. However, Capquest started to send about 2-3 letters a month demanding payment, with their fake solicitors ones and pay now get 30% ones. I have not been in contact with them, but I still am getting the letters, although they've slowed down and came about once every 2/3 months.

It's now nearing the end of 2009 and I've just received a letter from Scotcall demanding payment in the next 7 days or they will pass it to their "field representatives to arrange a doorstep call".

I not sure where to start. My account with Abbey was closed and I don't have any details of my bank account, so I don't know how I would begin to get evidence of charges and things.

Can offer me any advice or give me an idea of what to do?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Nothing goes away. Itis always up to you to bring closure to any dispute.

Put in a claim for bank charges. Send the bank an SARicon and then send them an lbaicon giving them only 7 days to pay you or else sue. Don't threaten if you aren't prepared to go through with it.

send letters to everyone who contacts you that the debt is a charges debt and is shortly to be the subject of litigation. Tell Abbeyicon also that the debt is in dispute

Please don't pm me about specific questions unless you have posted and it has not been dealt with or unless the matter is confidential.
Please include a link to the post you want me to look at. If you have received a defence, contact me.

Thank you for the reply and advice, BankFodder.

Is there anything else I can put as identification on the SARicon instead of my account number, or is there a way to find your account number?
