    Default MBNA PPI - Help

    Hi all

Have a wee problem. I have a MBNAicon card which I SARicon and happy to say I actually got a response. Problem is understanding what they have sent me. I can see my PPIicon payments coming off my statements for the last 5 years but I cannot see where I actually applied for it so how do I tell if I was mis-sold ?
So what should my next step be ? How do I work out what I believe I am due (is there a spreadsheet I can use?)

Any help or advice would be a great help (1st time I've tried this)

    Hi SRR1972

Welcome to the MBNAicon mis-sold PPIicon club - as you will see if you have read around the forum, there are quite a few of us!

If you have a look at the stickies at the top of the forum there is plenty of info regarding establishing if the PPI was mis-sold - most people seem to fit at least one of the criteria.

I think you find that with MBNA the PPI was often sold over the telephone when the call was made to activate the credit card - that's why most people don't seem to recollect how and when they agreed to it. In our case my OH was so intent on getting his card activated he probably would have agreed to anything

Also in the stickies you should find a PPI spreadsheet which will help with calculating how much you are owed.

Let us know how you get on!

    Regards,

    Landy x

When determining whether a policy is suitable, a seller – whether a lender or an agent for the insurer – must obviously take into consideration any information the prospective policyholder volunteers. However, we do not consider the seller’s duty is limited simply to recording what the borrower discloses. It is only by asking questions that the seller can properly determine suitability. These questions cannot cover every aspect of a borrower’s personal position and should not be expected to do so. To paraphrase the ABI Statement, only those matters deemed to be relevant by the insurer should be the subject of questions.
