Default Yorkmackem -v- Mercers and BC

I was about to lodge a complaint about Mercers with the CSA, however I've checked their list of members and they don't seem to be on there. Is this a recent development ?

    Hi Yorks,

What is it you're complaining about.

In any event, do you mean the FSA (not CSA). Complaints are more often made to the fosicon.

You'd normally complain about Barclaycard because Mercers are one of their in-house collection arms.

It was a complaint with regard to breach of OFT debt recovery guidelines. The OFT seems to deal with complaints from "advisers" or third parties only, rather than individuals, so I came across the CSA (Credit Services Association) which purports to be the "Voice of the debt collectionicon Industry" :

    Welcome to the CSA

Anyhoo, it appears that Mercers aren't signatories to this (which seems odd as the likes of Scotcall, Moorcroft, Apex, Capquest et al are signed up) although I couldn't lodge a complaint via this route either so I've duly contacted the FOS in relation to both Mercers & Barclaycard. We'll see what happens....

    Hi Yorks,

I've put your posts into your own thread to avoid hijacking.

Thanks for the explanation - we use too many abbreviations and they sometimes get confused. I was wondering why the Child Support Agency would get involved !!

Mercers are in fact a Dormant Company according to Companies House which may explain why they aren't signed up, as you say. Doesn't stop BC getting Mercers to hound peeps day and night though !

Let us know what comes back from the fosicon.

Having now perused the thread on the fosicon it seems that I'm completely wasting my time with the complaint, which basically revolves around harrassment and threats of doorstep calling, non production of CA and passing on details of account to third parties whilst in dispute.

Any advice on the best way forward in dealing with this ? The last thing I need is my wife / kids having to deal with one of Scotcall's scumbags at our house.....

    Cheers

    Hi Yorks,

It would help if you post a quick history of the dispute you have with BC.

Have you sent them a CCA request to see if they have a valid credit agreement, and what response from them.

If there are any penalty charges or mis-sold PPIicon on the a/c, are you reclaiming these.

Have you sent off a SARicon.

Have you sent BC a letter saying you consider the a/c to be in dispute.
