Default 5000 Lloyds staff including collection staff to be sacked

Lloydsicon Banking Group is to cut 5,000 jobs by the end of next year.
As some of these cuts refer to temporary staff, the bank said the end result would be a permanent loss of 2,600 jobs in the UK.
A spokesman said the move would reduce overlap between divisions following the merger between Lloyds and HBOSicon last year.
Most of the cuts will come in its operations unit, which includes IT, collections and payment services.
"We will continue to work closely with our colleagues affected by today's announcement to help them through these changes over the coming year," said Mark Fisher, a group director at Lloyds.

"We have mitigated the impact on positions through redeployment and the release of contractors and temporary staff."
The bank said there would be a net reduction of 1,350 jobs in the operations division. Other divisions being cut back are insurance, where there will be a net loss of 940 jobs, and in retail, resulting in a net reduction of 270 jobs in mortgageicon operations.
    'Corporate arrogance'
The Unite union reacted angrily to the news.
"This announcement demonstrates the depth of corporate arrogance within this taxpayer supported bank," said Rob MacGregor, Unite's national officer.

There you are, Lloydsicon staff. Ths is how your bank repays loyal service.

Very much the same way that your bank repays loyal customers.

    Bankfodder,

Earlier answered a query, someone working for a bank charged with Gross
Misconduct. It's to do with e-mails, the incident happened in July, his only action was forwarding it on. But he's just been pulled up about it now. That doesn't sound right. I wonder if it's the same bank.

My Wife has been offered redundancyicon at RBoS. She's been there for over 20 years. They are offering £15,000. Whcih may sound like a lot if you havn't got it- we certainly havn't. But on the scale of the money they've been chucking at 'High' execs etc its quite pathetic. In the time My wife has been there i've had 10 jobs......simply because dedication and loyalty shows nothing to these places. Employee or customer.

I feel I should take issue with the title of this particular thread - As I understand it the HBOSicon staff have not been "Sacked" but are to lose their jobs through redundancyicon - which are entirely different scenarios. Judging by your comment in post 2 of this thread BF it suggests that you take pleasure from what is happening to these people, who are, after all, only the ordinary workers, and who, for many may end up in dire financial straights themselves, as are many on these forums.

I read BFs comment more as a "welcome to CAGicon" message for the workers who will be losing their jobs.

Who knows what secrets they can divulge.

The bank has shown them little to no loyalty, so why should they not come on here and spill the beans?
