I will try to keep this simple. I have had a First Trust Bank option 2 cc for 7 years and its always been in good standing. My limit was £2100. However I was pleased when I made a purchase and it went through despite it putting me over my credit limit. On the same day I went into my local branch toexplain this and make an immediate payment only to be told that in fact my limit had been increased and a letter would be on its way. Brilliant so I treated myself to a few other things and indeed my card allowed me to spend to the tune of £400. Anyway 10 days later I recieved a letter to say that I was over my limit by £400. I again apoke to the same branch and was told this was a mistake the card would not allow this. I then got another letter from the collections dept so I called them and all they could tell me was that infact my card would allow me to go over my limit by a certain % but they couldnt tell me what that was or indeed where it was in my t&c's ( Ihave checked and its not there) I paid my 3% minimum on the total amount but they have now demanded the full overlimit amount and have entered negative feedback on my credit file. I have lodged a complaint but its going to take ages to sort and I refuse to loose £400 of my money due to their incompetency
Any suggestions
