Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've got a one-year Citroen approved used car 1-year guarantee which runs out on Saturday.
This week the car developed a fault whereby it intermittently pops out of 5th gear. I realise that this may not be covered under the warranty (ie it could be 'wear and tear' or other get-out clauses) but tried to book it into the local dealer for repair. They couldn't even look at it until Monday, by which time it will be out of warranty. No other dealer locally can look at it before then either.
I rang Citroen who said that any warranty claims submitted by the dealers after the warranty period ends will usually be dismissed, even if the fault occurred within the one year. They did however log my call, give me a reference number and said they may allow it on a case by case basis.
I can't find a full copy of the agreement - but can't believe this is legal. Surely the warranty is for a full year of use, not for 1 year minus however much time it takes to investigate the fault, repair it and send the paperwork off.
You need to be very careful here. You do not have a warranty. You have an insurance policy against mechanical Breakdown. As such, it is a contract with a definate life. The good thing is that you should/might have a claim form in the back of the policy and it usually states date when first reported to repairer.
If not get a letter sent/delivered to the address on the policy. It will show as something like "underwritten by wegotyourmoneyand aintpayingout" at Lloyds of London" or some similar stuff. Make sure dealer has copy, underwrites or claims agent has copy. You should be safe then I think.
However, as it is ****roen who are more slippery than a pair of uncooked frogs legs and as slow as the other delicacy that inhabits British gardens I'd also register it a Customer Diservices. PM Scaniaman and I'm sure he'd be pleased to give you exactly who you need to send the email to!
Mike A. What heliosuk refers to is CUKCustomer_Relations@cit roen.com or cuk_contactcentre@citroen .com
Remember to spell citroen correctly!! i constantly use ****ROEN because of my experience with them. Unfortunately, the underlining has obliterated the low stroke between customer and relations. also between cuk and contactcentre.
Thanks very much for the replies. I emailed them on Saturday (waiting for a reply) and dropped the car off this morning for repair so we'll just wait and see what happens now.
