Barclaycard Demanding Payment for Someone Else's Account

I have just received a statement from Barclaycard for a Gold Mastercard, sent to my old address, demanding payment for almost £3500.

I do have an account in dispute with Barclaycard but it certainly isn't this one!!

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Advice needed please.

I wonder if this is them trying to be smart and trying to get me to contact them

Hi Skint,

I assume, if you have an a/c in dispute with BC, that they already have your current address.

In which case, there should be no problem in you writing to them saying you've received this letter about an account which is not yours.

Ask them to check it out, correct their records and write to you confirming that they made an error about this.

Thanks for your reply. I will send them a letter and hope they admit it is an error - I'm just a bit wary of Barclaycard.

Haha,

I think we're ALL a bit wary of the banks these days.

But let's hope it is no more than a genuine error on their part, and nothing to worry about.
