Called again and I answered at 14:03 – spoke to a very rude Indian lady who wouldn’t give me her name, and told me that I have to pay £140 today by card.
I asked why as I spoke to their head office on Wednesday 21st Oct 2009 who said I need to make a payment of £62 to bring the account up to date and they agreed that I could make a payment on Friday.
Her reply was ‘the account is adding interest so the figure you were told on Wednesday was probably correct’. So I asked if it was correct that they have added £80 charges in 3 days to which she replied ‘yes that is correct’.
She then agreed with me that that is ‘ridiculous’. I then told her again that the man I spoke to before (who was very helpful!) agreed that I could make the payment on Friday 30th and her reply was ‘Yes I can see this on your notes’......
She then went on to ask for my security details (at the end of the call!) and when I said what if i don’t give them to you she replied ‘I cannot discuss your account with you!!!!’ (After all it was them who called me, and she has already given out all of the details from the account beforehand!)
Then said ‘Thank you for your time’ and hung up!
They are calling me around 8 times a day from various numbers and even though I have made an arrangement with them they still call and demand payment?
Are they legally allowed to do this? I am thinking of making a formal complaint however am not sure if I have the grounds to do so?
