Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Please remember the only stupid question is the one you dont ask so dont worry about asking the stupid questions.

I have a couple of friends who work for RBS who would love to know who's getting all this money.
One of them earns less than £12k for a 6 day week and extra hours are not paid as overtime, but as time off in lieu midweek. What really gets them is that they never get an easter weekend break because although the bank is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, it is open for half a day on the Saturday in between. The ruins any chance of getting away for a break as they can't take flexi-time until Wednesday!
They frequently point out that a bonus would help this seem less onerous, but they never see one!

this has been covered before, but you cannot let a company so intrinsically connected into the UK's economy fail.
Apart from their account holders' basic transactions, plus all their direct debits etc, many of our largest corporations bank with RBS so there would be total chaos for their payments, income and salaries.
Then you need to consider that 1 in 2 card transactions whether by Maestro, Visa or Mastercard are handled by RBS systems and technology. Without access to these, the UK would simply grind to a halt.
As it stands our chancellor has arranged things so that he collects income tax from their thousands of UK employees, he will get 50% tax from most of those receiving bonuses plus tax from the company profits. At the same time as not paying income support and job seekers allowance for those who would have been made unemployed by the bank failing.
Once the RBS share price hits the magic number and he decides to sell the shares, he'll get his (our) money back plus a substantial amount of growth and remember, unlike us, the Government doesn't pay CGT on its gains.

She needed no more that 2k for the lot but got told no go to the council to re house you.

Sorry RD, I'm not won over on this argument....... if RBS are/were so intrinsic to day to day living of such a large proportion of the economy then they should have been broken up the moment taxpayers money invested in their recovery.
Still see no reason why they should not have been allowed to fail in their previous and now current guise.
What possible reason could this government have for sustaining a single monopolising corporation within the UK economy...... oh yeah, cos they'll all be needing friends and jobs next year

Waiting on ur respone Ricky.
I don't know what your mum does but it looks like her employers are in breach of the European Working Time Directives on both hours and holidays.
I can't comment on divorce nor on loans but I do know my pal has a business degree and works damned hard trying to raise a young family. He was promised fairly rapid promotion which is why he left his previous job and he never gets paid overtime at any rate let alone time and a half.
I'm sorry for your mum's situation. I really am, but I didn't raise this to get into a competition for who works hardest/gets paid least. I wanted to expose the hypocrisy of a company that pays graduates with highly responsible jobs less than bin men (in Glasgow at least) whilst handing out massive bonuses to city boys who I'm fairly certain will work less hours.
The problem my pal now faces is that he needs to find a better job where the recruiter won't see having worked at RBS on his CV as a sign of bad judgement on his part.

There's probably some truth in this, but none of the big parties would have acted any differently.
Imagine going to your favourite supermarket to find you can't use your card as their systems use "streamline" so have you got cash? You go to the cash machine outside Tesco/ASDA and find its turned off (cos its an RBS machine). Then Scottish Gas can't collect your D/D this month because they bank with RBS so you'll need to send a cheque etc etc.
Trust me I've looked at this scenario and its a non-starter that's why they could steal the crown jewels and still be in business.
