Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have no legal training and the advice I offer is a matter of support. Before you commit to any Legal action you are advised to contact a qualified legal practitioner. ------------------------------------------------

Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
Just had a claim upheld up the fos against Amex (American Express). They wrote to Amex in August stating that they upheld the complaint and Amex had until mid September to either reject their findings (in which case it would go to an ombudsman) or to accept (which they did). However since then the FOS have been waiting for them to explain how they intend to settle this claim. To date I am still waiting for any more correspondence from either the FOS or Amex. Spoke to FOS who said that it is now with a different department within FOS who are dealing with the issue.

Unfortunately the account they used my reclaimed PPI against was in default. the good news for me is the payments have almost cleared it, about £90.00 left and they can sing for it.

Were these for pre 2005 Amex cards, and if so was the ppi mis-sold on the Amex application form, or was it mis-sold separately ?
Mine were pre 2005 one was with application form the other was sold over the telephone.
For the one that was miss-sold over the phone, did they send a PPI "enrollment form" (basically a 2 inch by 5 inch detachable piece of paper containing a signature box) for you to sign ?
Any chance of posting a template of your ppi claim letter please ? I know there are other template stickies, but yours may be a good variation tailored for Amex or at least it might be a useful reference.
I am sorry I deleted my letter after the PPI issue was settled however it was basically the letter from here.
I do not remember signing anything like that, and they certainly didn’t mention it in the response to my claim.
When I took out the PPI the salesperson at the time told me that it would cover me for the complete period of any illness or unemployment. I now believe this was contrary to the small print of the ppi application form which stated up to 2 years.
This was further confirmed in the 4th paragraph, page 1 of the ppi enrollment letter that I received (copy in attached pdf) quote :
"For the period you are out of work because of illness, accident or unemployment, Repayment Protection wil cover the minimum repayment on your balance each month, until you get well or find a new job".
I cannot recall ever receiving a Summary of Cover booklet, and the Salesperson did not at any time discuss any exclusions with me.
I wonder if this was a case of mis-selling the ppi ?
Another thing, the PPI was taken out under pressure from the salesperson.
I was applying at the time for an elderly relative to be an additional cardholder. Because I would be responsible for the payments, I was led to believe that my application for the additional card, would more successful if I took out ppi cover.
Does anyone think these factors could amount to ppi being mis-sold ?
