Default Re: council tax & statute of limitations

Sorry to but in on this thread.... but I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice on council tax:

I received a summons this morning from the council, I have rung them and asked why I am being taken to court when I am up to date with my payments.... there arguement is because I haven't paid on the 1st of every month (I get paid every 4 weeks, so my payments differ from month to month, but I have always paid within the month) then I have effectively defaulted!!! I have been sent 2 reminders but I just presumed that as long as it was paid then I would be o.k.

They have said I can make an arrangement to pay by direct debiticon, but I have to provide them with employer details, salary etc etc..... I do not want to provide them with this confidential information.

I informed them that I would continue to make my payments direct to the council as I have been doing each month and they said they would send the bailifficon to my home and I would then incur their charges....

I have said I will write to the council tax manager but I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas as to what to do now....

    Thanks

    Yours is easy,

Go to court and tell them what has happened they should not give a liberty order in these circumstances.

Also the council will have the option on the DD forms to pay on different days in the month, tell the court this.
