Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Lloyd Williams - "PPP Claims Specialist" Anyone heard of these???
Has anyone ever heard of this firm? This post is really on behalf of a friend who paid them £199 in November to claim to get his PPP on a loan with Ford Credit back, he has heard nothing since and when he calls them can only get answer phones.
I think he has been in the nicest possible terms "ripped off" but not sure how to go about helping him in firstly getting his money back and secondly getting his PPP refunded.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! They are probably a claims management company. Steer clear of ALL claims management companies. They make big promises and end up ripping you off.
If they're not, it's a criminal offence, and come back here. If they are, prepare a nasty letter of complaint to them threatening to report them if they don't refund the money immediately plus compensation. Post up a draft here, correctly worded with the dates, but without the confidential information and I'll try to proof it for you.

Barclays. Paid up today 24/04/10 cheque received for over £4,500 and in the bank.
LTSB still have to decide on this as their SAR production was abysmal. Papers data mixed up documents missing etc

Keep at them. Do not give way and do not accept all they tell you, they will delay and stall for as long as they can to prevent repaying you your mis-sold PPI.
Firstly, the Office of eFfed-up Trading is a useless quango.
Secondly, it would be a waste of postage - even a 2nd class stamp - as they cannot do anything where there is another regulatory body whose remit it is under and they have not looked into it.
The OFT will just respond that the OP should write to the Ministry of Justice - Claims Management Regulation Monitoring & Compliance Unit. The MoJ have the right to penalize the company, tell them to pay the customer and withdraw their registration - and they can penalize them even if they are unregulated, which would likely lead to a criminal prosecution and a fine.
Don't waste time with the OFT in this case. The MoJ is the way to go. I say this from experience.

Thanks. Keep up the good work as a mod.
I know how hard that can be at times. I had my own sites & forums in a much more controversial area of press monitoring and politics [in English & Hebrew, relating to Israeli politics & Israeli and international press relating to Israel]. I also had an international Jewish cooking site & forums, a medical health site & forums and a consumer issues site in Israel. And Hebrew is my second language. [The political site was about 60% English & 40% Hebrew. The cooking site was about 70% in Hebrew, 30% in English and the others about 90% in Hebrew and 10% in English]
For the most controversial of all I had to manage an ongoing mod team - that kept churning with some leaving and some joining - of anything between 100 and 500, with an active membership of over 95,000 and about 250,000 more members who occasionally used it. We had over 9,000 posts a day at one point! That was just for one site! I also had a few smaller sites in the same areas, but more focused on specific sub-topics, as well as communal groups.
The consumer issues & medical sites were busier but had less modding work and the food site was more seasonal.
I swore - and have kept to it - when I got out, NEVER AGAIN! I couldn't have a life, it was a 24/7 job for which I only got the advertising money which barely covered the server costs and the grants which barely covered a measly hardly reasonable wage!
I could NEVER do it again!
Anyway's back on topic: slgsue, How are things going? Any updates?

Perhaps you can post some information on the experience you have on the MoJ with some evidentual information?
I have now decided to contest what you post. I believe that the regulatory bodies are the way to go. Whatever you may think of them. They are after all regulatory authorised and should IMO be the first approach if there is a problem.
I contest your comments above and ask you to provide proof of your comments re quangos etc etc.

Re: Lloyd Williams - "PPP Claims Specialist" Anyone heard of these???
The CMR MCU of the MoJ is a regulatory authority! The rules governing regulatory authorities are clear. Where another statutory authority has responsibility the other one cannot deal with it, unless the first has refused. The OFT is an authority that is there to monitor the markets and recommends - together with the MoJ - the setting up of new quango's.
The OFT also has a policy of not dealing with complaints - like Ofcom - unless they get a substantial amount of them.
For example: I can see in the footer of your posts you have that one complaint was not upheld by the fos on the basis that it was an ICO issue, and the ICO upheld it in your favour. It's exactly the same here. Unless the CMR MCU of the MoJ has received the complaint, the OFT will NOT deal with it.

You must forgive me if I have reservations on the information you provide.
Firstly the OFT is a useless quango! but the MoJ in line with the OFT sets up new quangos
Your comments unless backed up with some reference, seem to me to be full of contradictions and of course this could be mis-leading to others on the site so I will ask you to give some reference from statutes/policies to back up your comments about the MoJ especially as they apparently in line with the OFT set up new quangos that you shout down as useless.

Firstly, the CMR MCU is a division of the MoJ, not the same part of the MoJ that is responsible for setting up quangos. The MoJ's involvement in such issues are the legal aspects.
Secondly, you are deliberately ignoring my biggest points. Your footer proves what I am saying is correct - the fos refused to deal with a complaint of yours because the ICO had the authority to do so! - this is common across those sorts of bodies, because they work together, they don't want to step on each others toes.
Thirdly, please point me in the direction of any evidence that the OFT has ever done anything to assist on one complaint about a company - not a company holding a Consumer Credit Licence or other licence granted by them, but in general just a company doing something in the market. NEVER! They don't.
Fourth, the only one that does is Trading Standards - which is NOT part of the OFT - but they - and I called to check just now with 4 local Trading Standards teams - state, we will only liase with the CMR MCU of the MoJ, you can contact them direct.
Your thoughts seem to be in contradiction with the responses of most mods and other experienced posters on here, who all seriously criticize the OFT.
The CMR MCU of the MoJ has the statutory authority to deal with such issues, so why waste time going elsewhere?!

Great! Then get all their details, post them here, let me do a bit of checking on them. Then draft a letter to the CMR MCU of the MoJ regarding them - minus confidential details - and post it up here, and I'll try to proof it for you.

Re: Lloyd Williams - "PPP Claims Specialist" Anyone heard of these???
just spoke with my friend all the details I have are correct including their address. it seems that they were forwarded to them by a company called DLC Global, unfortunately they cannot remember if it was them or Lloyd Williams they paid the money to.
I also cannot find DLC Global on that site either.

Please post all the details for both of them that you have, and I will do a bit of research and come back here with the results.

It seems they may be Solicitors, in which case a complaint would go to the Legal Complaints Service, before I do the research, please provide us with the details of the people who contacted them & how they contacted them.
If they signed any contract, please scan in a copy - MINUS confidential details - and post as an attachment to a new post on this thread.
