Hi all
I am currently involved in a case against RBS regarding a loan. When I took out the loan I was offered PPI as an option on a tick box type form.
At the time of the loan, as now, I was self employed, which I must have had to put on the application form.
I have been told that if you are self employed PPI is of no use, and should not have been sold.
My question is, is this the case, and can anyone advise me what the legislation covering this is please?
Any other help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks IRM
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition, they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to have happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI Insurance has been sorted. Now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

There are many issues and problems surrounding the mis-selling of PPI , most are based around either people being sold ppi without their knowledge or being sold policies that are totally unsuitable for them and have been sold without proper questions being asked by a trained and knowledgable representative and your case sounds like the latter .
The best thing i would say is to have a good read through all the paperwork and decide for yourself if you think the policy would have been useful to you at the time you signed the agreement and if the agent/rep or phone operative fully explained the details of the ppi before you ticked the box.
If you feel that these measures were not taken and you have all the relevent paperwork as evidence take it to the fos.
Good luck
