Hi everyone,

This afternoon I was visiting friends who recently moved into a new house. They found loads of letters in the attic from card companies/DCAs to the previous owners.

This afternoon while they were out a letter was put through their door by Couriers and it contained two new Barclaycards for Mr and Mrs X replacing their XYZ cards which will cease to be usable this month. They were given quite a reasonable credit limit.

Now, if these people were on a debt list which seems likely as my friends have had loads of people trying to contact them, why would Barclaycard be sending out two new cards?

Probably Barclaycard have bought XYZ - never heard of them - they are not obviously XYZ and will check in a minute - and sent out cards to anyone who was on the list, regardless of whether those people have paid on their cards or not. They moved out in January so if they are making their monthly payments XYZ/Bcard probably would have been given the new address, or Bcard are just sending out the new cards to everyone. The courier didn't get a signatureicon and as my friend said if he had been dishonest he could have ordered loads of stuff on the internet to be delivered to a mailbox, or taken the cards down to (dodgy area) and flogged them. Honestly, with my financial situation it took so much control not to say could I have them and go to dodgy area? (Only joking - don't want criminal record.)

This can't be an isolated incident and they are obviously going to be losing loads of money like this, and of course they expect cardholders (well, the ones who are actually paying and not questioning them) to bail them out when they have losses due to their own stupidity.
