I have an Eggand cahoot credit card which I defaulted on both in 2005. The debts were subsequently sold on to Lowell. Since Lowell became involved they have been making entries on my CRFs. The original defaults from egg and cahoot are also sitting on my file.
My understanding of the Information Commisioners Office technical guidance for filing defaults is that when a debt is sold on, the buyer must either take over responsibility for the existing CRF entries, or the original creditor must mark the entries as satisfied and the buyer does not make ANY CRF entries at all.
Has anyone had a definitive answer from the ICO on this?
