Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
A few years ago i ran into trouble with some of my loans/cards. These went to default and some were passed to DCA's. I have since beed paying them every month albeit reduced payments. The balances are going down and all payments have been made every month.
I have recently had a copy of my file and the accounts are just shown as defaults. None of my payments over the last 3 years have been recorded. I feel like my regular payments are not being accurately reflected on my file. I would probably not be any worse off if i had just stopped paying.
I was thinking of writing to each creditor and asking if they would consider changing my record to show the normal monthly payment records rather than just the default. Has anyone in a similar position tried this? What are the chances of them agreeing to it?

I had a problem with Welcome Financial Services who defaulted my account some time after my bankruptcy. After I sent them a signed for letter, they back dated the account which removed the default and changed the history of the account to show a good payment history; so yes it is possible, but you have to be very specific what you ask for and make sure you send the letter as a signed for letter. They should change the status to show as having an agreement in place, but I am unsure if this is enforcable, so it might be worth being nice to them! If anyone else can offer any suggestions or corrections to this then please feel free......
Cheers,
