Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Experian -- etc -- why are we all so scared or even CARE
Hi everyone
Why do we really CARE anymore about these companies -- after all most people (including me) reading these Forums have got themselves into some sort of debt mess -- not necessarily through our own faults --such as being laid off due to jobs being "outsourced overseas" etc.
Once you've got OUT of the nightmare of being in debt -- and it can take ages to do this often at horrendous costs why on earth would we actually EVER want to get into debt again.
Unless you absolutely need a mortgage (and there are still ways and means even if you have a HORRIBLE credit score) then its about time we told these companies to go and get lost instead of doing all sorts of shenanighens to "clean up your credit record".
Once I've got rid of all debts I personally will NEVER even THINK of having a credit card again -- a bank debit card is all you need and more and more these days CASH is KING again.
I used to have a "concertina size" wallet of about a zillion credit cards -- what a total FOOL I was.
Most people could actually do quite nicely WITHOUT a credit card -- OK does it matter if it takes a bit longer to get that purchase you want but you might be able to get it cheaper and your money at the end of the month is ALL YOURS and doesn't go to some stinking set of solicitors or debt collection Agency scum.
Re: Experian -- etc -- why are we all so scared or even CARE
Ever since I stopped my Experian 'membership' some 6 months ago I've had more peace and quiet than before. I just don;t see it to get stressed out and worried. Having said that I would like to know every now and then who has done what and seen what. Been told that joining up invites all the leeches to you as they know you are signed up as Experian passes on this data somehow so they can invite your to borrow etc etc. perhaps a SAR every now and then will do the job.
I have a mortgage and thought I was up creek earlier this year when fixed rate ending - fortunately the bank does not check any of that if I am merely taking another fixed rate for same amount. Phew. Will worry again in 4 years time.
Agree with you regarding credit cards. Never - never ever ever again.
Got the fos asking for recent credit report every now and then in response to my 2 year old complaints but they are not getting it from me. They are also useless and allow CRAs to willy nilly sabotage people's future hopes and aspirations.
