Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've been stung for charges for a number of years now and was more than chuffed when I happened upon your site where I learnt that these charges are illegal. I can't believe they've been getting away with it for so long but it sounds like the tides are turning and their ridiculous annual profits are about to be dented.
Following the advice of this site (good job guys) I wrote the first letter to Barclays on 22nd July requesting transaction data for the past 6 years. Little over a week letter I received all of the requested data and I even got my £10 cheque returned with a note to say "this service is provided free of charge". Happy days - hopefully they'll remain this nice throughout!
In the morning I'll post the next letter in which I've asked for a total (including interest) of £1891 to be reimbursed. I'm going to post the letter through the bank's door myself to ensure it gets there as soon as possible.
I never like to be too confident because it can set you up for a fall, but if I manage to reclaim even half of what I've asked then I'll be happy enough.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress. Fingers crossed.
Hi Phil - well done for making a good start! It's probably time to start a post in the Barclays forum where you can update your progress and ask any questions. That way you'll get the best out of all the experience and support in there.
