Easiest way to explain it is if I simply requote the message I sent Eggbank regarding my recently settled Loan Account.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Having just checked my credit score I notice you have marked my recent payment as LATE. Not only is this untrue but also potentially libellous and damaging to me.
Your system would not allow me to make a payment - if you check your call records I rang to make payment in plenty of time but was told that the system would not allow me to do so until AFTER the date for payment had passed. When that date had passed I rang back and successfully paid off the loan.
For you to record this payment as late is inaccurate as it was forced by YOUR system's inflexibility, not by my tardiness. I trust you will correct this matter promptly as it is not only unlawful but highly unfair and unethical.
I look forward to your prompt response, but no later than 7 days, confirming you have corrected the entry.

Today I have received the following reply:
Dear BtonBadger
I'm happy to confirm that your Egg Loan Account xxxxxxxxx is paid off and closed and no recent payments were late, so no charges have been applied.
A letter will follow, confirming the closure of your account within 7-10 days.
Thanks for your message.

My credit record still shows the payment as being late so this is my reply?
What would my learned friends recommend my next course of action be? Should I contact the credit reference agency and refer them to Gary's reply?Dear Gary,
Thank you for your confirmation that Egg Bank do not consider any of my recent payments as late. This does not explain why when I log into my credit report on creditexpert.co.uk the entry for EGG BANKING PLC last updated on 13/09/2009 clearly shows the words ONE PAYMENT LATE and a bracket around the one which denotes 'most recent month's status'.
Can you explain why your bank have submitted this information incorrectly? A late payment is damaging to my reputation when trying to gain credit and therefore inaccurate information would be considered libellous.
I once again urge you to correct this information immediately. I do not want to have to consider legal action to protect my reputation because of your error, so your prompt response and confirmation the information has been resubmitted correctly is appreciated.
Regards,
BtonBadger
Thanks
BtonBadger
