Default FM v Barclaycard (£12 claim)

    Hi,

This is quite a straightforward one and sorry if it reads as smug (my real problems are with Lloydsicon and Halifaxicon, believe me).

I've just looked through my Barclaycard statements and spotted one charge for late payment.

I know it sounds like £12 isn't worth fighting about, but I'm going to write to ask for it to be refunded anyway and thought some of you might be interested to see how such a small claimicon progresses.

That is, unless a £12 charge is acceptable. I know that the OFT ruled that companies shouldn't charge more than £12 and would have to provide 'substantial evidence' if they did.

Anyway, seems like it's worth a message through their website.

I'm going to do the same for MBNAicon (their late payment charge was £20) and will keep both threads updated if anyone is curious.

    Best,
    FM

Er, if you're thinking you'll need to go to Court, you'll need your own audit trail - I'd suggest using the templates on CAGicon to ask for your money back, then tell them you want it back, then a letter before Court action. Unless you can prove what message was sent "through their website", I'd avoid that option.

Usually, if you haven't had charges before, some companies may refund them willingly on request as a one-off.

Always happy to help where I can!
