Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.

so. i have all my bank statements dating back years and years but just want to know about my credit rating.
You do not really need to do a SAR - DPA request then, unless you need to know about Manual Intervention - where they manually enter or take away charges etc
Your credit Rating can be checked by contacting the people like experian

By checking your credit file (experian or the like) you will see how your credit has been effected
Now I have replied to your thread, I will keep an eye on your progress and offer advise as you ask (See note below)

i am definately going ahead with all this and could do with the support. still it will be a slow thing as i need to do a lot of other stuff right now too like get a job for the beginning of september. yikes!
still. i will count up the amounts on my statements over the last six years at the weekend and then see what i come up with. then i guess its the preliminary letter.
I suggest using the easy spreadsheet in the library, which is quick to use
If you prefer you could try the Advanced one, but I would suggest you get to grips with the easy sheet first
