Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this question and am also sorry if you have already seen / answered similar queries many times before. I havent used the internet very much before and have tried finding information but have found it all rather baffiling to be frank.
I have a credit card with Vanquis and have done so for a few years now (I cant find the exact date as many of my documents were destroyed when the flat I was renting awhile ago flooded and I lost most my documents). The oldest statement I can find is January 2007 (I have most of the sequencial statements frm this month but not all) but I know I have had the card longer then this.
I have only started using the internet a couple of weeks ago and have only come across people reclaiming PPI from card / loan companies etc so im hoping someone can help me out some what as I have a few questions please:
1) is the 'Repayment Option Plan' (which I was told increases the chances of my application being accepted at the time of applying for the card) simialr to a PPI and as such possible to request a refund on it?
2) is it too late for me to start a claim for this charge as I have had the card for many years?
3) as I will be unable to remember the date I took out the card (and my older statemets have been destroyed) mean I wouldnt be able to claim?
4) Finally, Im sure you'll be glad to see the end of this post now, if it is possible for me to try and claim back the 'Repayment Option Plan' from Vanquis Bank please can you explain the exact steps I need to take and any letters / evidence I would need to send them.
Thankyou so much for reading this and if there is any further information I can provide which would a assist you in helping me then I would happily provide this for you.

Many financial organisations give it different names but it all amounts to the same thing PAYMENT PROTECTION INSURANCE.

Not at all you can claim for as long as you can get statements for most companies keep account data for at least 6 years and in many cases longer.
as I will be unable to remember the date I took out the card (and my older statemets have been destroyed) mean I wouldnt be able to claim?
Again not at all, there is a wealth of information on this site to help you including template letters you can customise you first stop is the stickys at the top of this forum.
You will need to send a subject access letter to get all the info they hold on you that will included a copy of the agreement and statements
Template letter in the stickys.
Finally, Im sure you'll be glad to see the end of this post now, if it is possible for me to try and claim back the 'Repayment Option Plan' from Vanquis Bank please can you explain the exact steps I need to take and any letters / evidence I would need to send them.
You first step is to request all the data from Vanquis using the S.A.R Letter it will cost you £10 this fee is a statutory search fee and it will take them 40 days to search there archives again this is statutory.
Once you have this info you will be in a better position to start your claim.
I will leave it at that for now because as i say the S.A.R will take 40 days do this step and soon as you get the info post back and we will explain what you have to do next.
While you are waiting for this info please do read other PPI threads as the info you can gain is awesome also have a read of PPI in the media thread at the bottom of the main forum page.
Finally anymore questions just post here and someone will be along to answer.
Re: Reclaiming 'Repayment Option Plan' from Vanquis
Thankyou so very much for your reply and advice Pompey Faith.
Well, from what you have said I maybe able to start a claim for a refund so I would be very keen to take this action as the £10 mentinoned for it seems like a very fair price to pay to try.
Where do I get the S.A.R. forms from (are my local post office likey to have one? I seem to get most of my required forms from there). Also the S.A.R. fee of £10 - is this paid via cheque and written out to whom?
Again, many thanks and sorry for all the questions
Re: Reclaiming 'Repayment Option Plan' from Vanquis
the SAR is not a form as such but mearly a letter laid out in a certain format and this u can get from this site there is a PPI SAR template letter at the top of this ppi forum just copy and paste it into your word program and then edit it to suit your requirements the payment is payable to the creditor and i would use a postal order also send the letter recorded and get a postage reciept incase they decide to play silly
