Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Recently went to Orlando without realising I had gone £30 over my agreed £300 overdraft - needless to say when i returned home there were 3 letters waiting for me (charges of £165) but I thought no problem we will soon sort this out.
Went to local branch who said nothing we can do even if your account has been open for 20 years and never had previous charges so was referred to Andover who sent me a letter back saying it was all my own fault (I did not dispute it was my fault but asked if it could be treated as if I had responded after the first letter as I was out of the UK)
Since receiving the letter from Andover I now realise I can look forward to another £85 charge on 1st October so I am being charged the maximum for 15 consecutive days (10 July and 5 August) which means a total of £250 for being £30 overdrawn.
I must admit the account in question is not a main account and is only used for £500 from my wages to be paid in to cover my daughters Uni fees and holidays etc but was staggered to learn just how much they want to screw you.
I have today sent a letter to Andover requesting they close my account as soon as the charges are debited on the 1st October and requesting they ring me so I can pay off the remainder (£400) of my Lloyds/TSB loan so all all ties between us are finished.
As a customer of 20 years you really expect a bit of understanding for a genuine mistake but instead all you recieve from Andover is a bog standard its all your fault letter.
Reading your post does'nt surprise me one bit, I was with HBOS for about 25 years, then when I claimed back their ridiculous charges, they closed my account. They don't give a jot.
I hope your going to claim your charges back.
Regards.
Scott.
