Hi I was looking for some advice. I signed a car finance agreement about a year ago and recently received my 1 year statement, I was shocked that I had such a large amount outstanding so contact he finance company for a copy of the agreement. When I received the agreement it showed I had paid a deposit of £1000 then taken out £9995 on finance. It car was only advertised at £9995 and I paid £4000 deposit (this I cannot prove as have lost the receipt) this is not the agreement I sighed the signature on it is very similar to mine but it is not mine. I have reported this to the fos but so far they have taken 9 months to deal and now I have had a letter from them saying it could be another 6 months I am paying the finance company £200 pm and cannot cancel as I work in the credit industry and cannot get a default. Does anyone how any suggestions for me to deal with this?
If someone has fraudulently signed in your place you should be reporting this to the police and copying it to the finance company.
Did you pay the deposit with a card? if so get a copy statement from your cc company.
You will have to confront the dealer at some time, so now is as good a time as any. I would write to the manager marked personal and send recorded delivery.

You would have been given a copy of the agreement at the time you took out the agreement which I pressume HP, have you lost this as well; not good.
If it is not your agreement then it is fraud and you must report it as such to the police.
How long was the agreement for? have they changed that as well?
The payments should have aletered you as they would have been a lot lower for 5k than !0k??
this is not as uncommon as you would think. The above advice is good but make sure you get the finance company in on the loop at all times. check with your local Trading Standards as they will know if anyone else has had problems with the dealer and will help you as well.
