    Default Moorcroft and data protection!

Hi to everyone here, firstly just want to say what a God send this site is...and much respect for all those who have supplied good advice.
Now hopefully you can give me some.
I moved out of my previous address about 5 months ago(mum still lives there)...but today she called me saying that Moorcroft debt collections had sent a bill to my brother who lives in London (we have the same sir name obviously) now the bill had already been paid, but this was a bill stating that if it wasn't paid in 7 days that they would proceed with court action.
My problem with this is how did they get my brothers address...and why the @uck did they send it to him (although previously it was my mums address...but
the name was changed 10-15 yrs ago) Have they broken the data protection act by contacting my brother with this letter?
Any advice or knowledge regarding this matter would be highly appreciative...thanks

I'm not clear what it is that you might think is the DPA issue.
These agencies have all sorts of ways of tracking addresses. A problem is that they don't do very much fact checking so they often get it wrong adn this is what can make life very difficult for some people.

It sounds to me as if there is more of an issue with them trying to pusue a debt which has already been paid. You should tell us about that .

Please don't pm me about specific questions unless you have posted and it has not been dealt with or unless the matter is confidential.
