Yes, RM are a law unto themselves. They need a regulator but there isn't one as far as I know

Nothing now. You might find it worthwhile to visit your local delivery office and ask to speak with the manager. If there is a local 'difficulty' complaints like these can often work wonders.

The Post Office when things are going well are good, but when it goes tits up it's poor indeed.

I have had many dealings with the PO in the past, the wrong deliverys to my property, my mail going elsewhere etc....it just isn't good.

In the end I dispensed with their customer services who are a complete joke, their 'teeth' are useless, my grandads in the glass by the side of his bed have more bite....

In any case, I have found by far the best route in is to identify your area sorting office, the main one...not the local delivery office or whatever but the main one for your area etc....and then look for the 'Sector Operations Manager' usually for deliveries....them ppl are usually at the top in the area and have in the past when I've written to them or their PA responded in a very positive manner....and if they say something will happen it usually does.....

What will happen is they'll sort the issue out and then they'll keep on it and if it goes wrong and you let them know it they really do get on the case.

My area sector operations manager was a real cool guy...he's moved on now and his replacement is equally as good if not a little slow on the uptake. I don't blame Royal Mail in general but more their policy on employing useless temps that have the street knowledge of a first edition tom tom running on a pp3 battery....

I reside in Dawlish Warren but am not a rabbit.

They can take up to 12 weeks, but they sometimes achnoledge your claim. The rolling postal strike is also causing problem. There is no regulator any more - Pos[EDIT - PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL ABUSE]ch was dissolved.

Post watch weren't a regulator, they were an independent watchdog. Postwitch has been replaced by Consumer Focus. Royal Mail are still regulated by Postcomm - nothing has changed.

    See message #3.

Pos[EDIT - PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL ABUSE]ch took consumers complaints and raised them as an arbitrator-style intermediary. The 'regulator' does not deal directly with consumers, with Postcom not accepting any representations from the public.

The arrival of Consumer Forcus, brings little to the table - in place of a specialist industry mediator (with no powers), we now have CF, a non-specialst 'watchdog' with the same amount of leverage.

In my book this means they make up the numbers, but in effect achieve nothing else - replacing one useless entity with another is not progress that benefits consumers..
