Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I Bought a Ford Ka at a reputable garage and it came with 1 month parts and labour warranty as part of package.
i got the car home on monday after paying cash upfront and i was showing it to my mum and was opening and closing it etc as too use central locking as my old car was a wrecker without central locking or power steering and it was a novelty.
i went out to the car later that night to go to the shops and noticed the central locking was not working due to classes and my job today thursday(4 days later) is first day i have managed to phone them and i was shocked with what i heard, the man at the service station bit told me i was not covered only serious faults where and he would have a word with salesman and phone me back,
i got a phone call back about 5 minutes later with the man question if my car ever actually had central locking which him and the man who sold me it seemed to think it would not have. im 99% sure it had central locking and so is my mum who i was showing it off to is as well(after the phone call small amount if doubt creeping in). i looked up the original poster advertising the car(which i am still in possession of) which was sitting on dashboard for potential costumers too see it was also the sheet the salesman took out and used when telling me the cars good points to sell it and it has central locking listed as a feature.
i have to take the car in on monday and they will have a look at it and will fix it at my own expence, but i am wandering if it turns out the car does not have central locking i want to know what my rights are? two features my car had to have was central locking and power steering as it is things that were worst about my other car and i would not have bought the car had i known it didnt have it!
i go back on monday and would like to go armed with information as too not get brushed off by the salesman using the mechanic as his tool to fob me off and cheat me.
We need a jokes section to put posting like this into.
will fix it at my own expence
Do not pay for it, it is their responsibility. The warranty is just a nicety that is used to help sell the car, it is of no real value. What is of tremendous value however, is the sale of goods act.
The car is not of satisfactory quality if it was not pointed out to you that the central locking is not working. If you have any problems and would rather not argue with them, then you can pay saying 'I am paying under protest'. You can then mention the sale of goods act and that you will be reclaiming the cost.
Trading Standards wants your help
Dubious website businesses Conterfeit alcohol and cigarettes Illegal sales of alcohol, tobacco, knives & fireworks to children Cowboy builders or tradesmen Car clockers Counterfeiters Aggressive selling
Never phone or accept phonecalls from debt collection companies.
If you don't believe you can win, there is no point in getting out of bed.

they are denying the car even has central locking, i mean i have no leverage (even using sale of goods act) to get them to fix the problem if they say there is not one!!!!
i am looking more for information on the mis-selling side as i see it as my most viable option for leverage to get something sorted out. as i said in first post print out advert left on dashboard advertised it as having central locking and its the fact sheet the salesman got his information from when encouraging me to purchase it.
What's the year and level of Ka, does it have bumpers coloured the same as the car, what radio is fitted? Only the base Ka's did not have it.
Frankly, if you demonstrated it to your mum then it sholud still be there. All Ka's had power steering. Let us know what year it is and I'll tell you exactly what it should have and what to look for as well.
Perhaps an easy solution is to take a copy of the ad with a Ka load of females dressed to the nines looking mean and demanding it's put right or you'll exercise your rights!!
Irrespective of the car problem I think you will get what is required as there is nothing so terrifying as a scene like this!!!
Its prob just a blown fuse however if you have been doing it again and again to show your mum then you might have blown the fuse or caused a motor to burn out. After less than a week I would sort it for you (im a used car dealer)
